OVERVIEW 1. Project Background and Description Nutrition education and health promotion are frequently advocate among adolescents to prevent diabetes, obesity and induce healthier behavior change. Nutrition intervention programs are often reinforce by health educators or teachers to reiterate the importance of healthier dietary practices among teenagers. This interventions are established frequently due to the nutritional vulnerability of this group. Indeed adolescents’ intense nutritional requirements for growth, along with their naivety in regard to mass media, the food industry’s marketing strategies, combined with their high concern regarding body image engender instability, insecurity and transience which may produce disordered eating among this group. Nutrition promotion and education are critical to produce a change, and as a health educator my desire is to have a positive impact in individuals’ health. I was offered a position as a nutrition counseling for adolescents during summer 2016. I am therefore taking this opportunity to create this project in order to implement it for the first time during summer camp 2016. This project is an excellent approach for me to provide my services and utilize my skills to influence adolescents to adopt healthier dietary habits. 2.
